#12: Wearing Designer Clothes, But Refusing to Upgrade From Keystone Light

Being a Notre Dame student requires a finely perfected wardrobe so as to look exquisitely good in class, at dorm parties, during mass, and at bars.  Notre Dame men and women pay the utmost attention not only to what articles of clothing they wear, but where these clothes are purchased.  For Notre Dame Students, the logo on the shirt is more important than the shirt itself.

Notre Dame Students, therefore, spend thousands of dollars on their wardrobes, going to designer stores of all shapes and sizes to make sure that their wardrobe fits their self-proclaimed status in the world, and says something about their personality as well.  (all this despite the fact that they will then wear these expensive clothes to dorm parties and dive bars, see #5).

Despite the fact that Notre Dame Students spend so much money on their wardrobes, they refuse to upgrade their choice of beer from the eternally delicious Natural Light and Keystone Light.  An upgrade from Keystone Light to Coors Light would be roughly 40 cents per beer.  If a Notre Dame Student drinks 450 beers each year (that is being generous) the upgrade would only cost about $180, or roughly the price of two Lacoste Polo Shirts.

When Notre Dame Students are given the option, the choice is clear: how they look on the outside is far more important than what they put on the inside.

  1. Hardly the case, where does this "finely perfected wardrobe" come from? Aren't ND students notorious for wearing sweatpants to classes and other demonstrations of a complete lack of regard for their appearance?

  2. agreed^^ I thought that nd girls were known for wearing sweats all the time..

if i see designer anything, it's usually just a purse, but girls here don't even really carry purses..

if by designer you mean northface, then maybe i'd consider this post to be true

  4. eh, those brands might be true, but if you go to another college, most of those students will be dressed much nice than us and they still drink natty/stone

  6. I get by on nothing but free t-shirt giveaways, which I'm sure is the same for 90% of Notre Dame.

  7. Asians and Latin Americans tend to dress up more than Americans... And i would say every guy at ND has at least 5 Polo or Brooks Brothers polos... Girls will all have the Coach wrist purses... So I agree...

  8. I agree that the average notre dame student does not have high end designer clothing (although the average international student is another story). The percent that do are often found to have their own supply of higher-end beer (an extremely relative term).

On the other hand, a major aspect of Notre Dame drinking is being overlooked. Beer purchased is often shared with the ladies of campus, who rarely if ever chip in. Additionally, keystone light is the accepted beer of dorm parties, where the host seeks to supply cheap beer.
